Despite a valiant effort, the Purdue University Northwest Pride fell to the Concordia University of Wisconsin Falcons with a final score of 3-1 at the Kube Sports Complex on February 20th.
In a game that was closely contested from the start, the Falcons managed to edge out the Pride by just one goal. The Falcons fired off 38 shots, while the Pride were hot on their heels with 37. However, the Falcons’ defense proved to be impenetrable, with their goalie, Austin Bartell, making an impressive 36 saves. On the other side of the rink, Pride’s Luka Krstulovich put in a commendable performance, saving 35 of the 38 shots he faced.
The game’s defining moments came from Falcons’ Dominic Murano, who found the back of the net twice. For the Pride, Brayden Mitchell managed to break through the Falcons’ defense to score a goal.
Despite the loss, the Pride showed resilience and tenacity, qualities that they will no doubt bring to their next game. Both teams struggled to capitalize on powerplay opportunities, with the Falcons going 0/4 and the Pride 0/6.
