Spartans Triumph Over Lakers in Thrilling 8-5 Victory

In a thrilling match at the All Seasons Ice Arena, the Aurora University Spartans secured a resounding 8-5 victory over the Roosevelt University Lakers on Saturday, October 16th, 2026. Despite being outshot 42-36 by the Lakers, the Spartans displayed exceptional resilience and strategic prowess, turning the game in their favor.

The Lakers’ power play was effective, netting 2 goals out of 3 opportunities, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Spartans’ relentless offensive pressure. The Spartans, on the other hand, managed to capitalize on 1 of their 3 power-play opportunities, a testament to their strong and disciplined special teams play.

The goalkeeping was another key factor in this exciting match-up. Spartans’ goalie Jake Olson had an outstanding game, saving 37 out of 42 shots. On the other end, Lakers’ goalie Jake Mehaljevic faced 36 shots and made 28 saves, but couldn’t keep the Spartans at bay.

Lakers’ Alexander Guida had an impressive performance, scoring 2 goals, but the night belonged to Spartans’ Charles Domaracki, who delivered a spectacular performance with 5 assists, contributing significantly to the Spartans’ high-scoring victory.

The Spartans will look to carry this momentum into their next game, a home match against Michigan Technological University on Friday, October 16th at 7:30 pm CDT at the Cornerstone Community Center. After this thrilling victory, the Spartans are sure to bring their A-game, promising another electrifying match for their fans.
